Manufactured in 1911. The left side of the slide is marked with the two block, two line 1897 and 1903 patent dates and address with the circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The right side of the slide is marked "AUTOMATIC COLT / CALIBRE 380 HAMMERLESS" under the ejection port, the left side of the frame is marked with the serial number and the left upper front of the trigger guard is marked with the Colt triangle "VP" proof. Standard blade front and "U" notch rear sights, fitted with black checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt over a stylistic "C" at the bottom and "COLT" in a banner at the top. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number, caliber, barrel length, blue finish with stocks as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as one of five to Norvell Shapleigh Hardware Company, St. Louis, Missouri on December 2, 1911. Complete in a black leather bound presentation case with tan suede fitted lining, original hanging tag and three "DIAMOND EDGE" Norvell - Shapleigh Hardware Co. hanging tags. The inside of the lid has a black satin banner which reads "Presented to / Dr. Jas J Gminner / by / nine names listed / Christmas / 1912". The marking is all in Old English lettering.
