Exceptional Early Colt Model 1902 Military Pattern Semi-Automatic Pistol with Attractive Hand-Tooled Heiser Holster

This is an excellent example of a desirable Colt Model 1902 semi-automatic pistol manufactured in the Military model configuration. Colt manufactured approximately 18,000 of this military model between 1902-1929 with this example manufactured in 1907. The pistol has a rounded rear sight, rounded casehardened hammer, squared grip, 8 round magazine and casehardened lanyard loop on the lower left side of the frame. The pistol is fitted with black checkered hard rubber grips with "COLT" in a banner at the top and circled Rampant Colt in the center. The pistol has the high polish commercial blue finish, niter blue screws, rear sight, slide pin and trigger, blue barrel and blue unmarked magazine. The right side of the slide is marked "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" with the left side marked "PATENTED/APR. 20. 1897 SEPTEMBER. 9. 1902." followed by "COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG. CO./HARTFORD. CONN. U.S.A." This exceptional pistol is accompanied by a equally rare early hand-tooled, drop down all leather holster made by the H. Heisser Company of Denver Colo. The Heisser company was one of the best holster producers during the 1920-1950s era. They produced exceptionally high quality holster in many different models for all type of pistols. This example is a model number 738, and has a beautiful hand-tooled large floral scene on the front of the holster and flap. This holster design is similar to the military model in that it has a full flap that covers the entire pistol. The belt loop is stamped "HEISSER/Triple H Logo/DENVER/738". The holster still retains its original leather leg tie-down strap.

Excellent with 97% of the original high polished blue finish with edge and high spot wear mixed. Some spotting brown patina on the grip straps and minor handling marks. The grips are also excellent with nice distinct checkering and Colt markings on both sides. The various smaller parts retain 90% of their niter blue finish. The holster is excellent with nice sharp hand tooling on the front, excellent color overall with nice tight stitching. The holster looks like it was hardly used.
