Exceptional DWM Model 1906 Commercial Luger Pistol
This is an exceptional example of a DWM Model 1906 commercial Luger. These early commercial Lugers were made expressly for commercial sales through out the world, the United States, Europe and South America to increase overseas sales by the DWM factory. These early commercial Lugers have the best fit and finish with beautiful hand polish rust blued finish on the metal parts with straw color on the smaller components with beautiful dark European hand checkered walnut stock. These were probably some of the best of the Lugers that the DWM factory ever produced for commercial sales. The model has the correct short style frame and upper receiver with the 4 3/4 inch tapered barrel, grip safety, no stock lug with a blank chamber area. Evidently, this pistol was produced early enough in the production cycle that DWM had not started applying any of the standard commercial proofs such as the Crown over the B,U, and G commercial proof marks as well as the commercial "N" proof marks. The only markings on this pistol are the full serial number on the underside of the barrel and the front of the frame with "GERMANY" stamped below the serial number. The left side of the breechblock and toggle have the partial serial number of 86 stamped on them as does the take down lever, side plate, trigger and grip safety. The back side of the left grip panel has been over stamped with a small cross and 43 and the right grip also has the small cross with the small letter "i". The trigger, take down lever, magazine release button and ejector are all straw colored. The pistol as noted is fitted with a beautiful set of dark European checkered walnut grips. It is complete with correct magazine that has a nickel-plated body with a unmarked wooden base.
