Exceptional Colt Model 1902 Sporting Semi-Automatic Pistol
Manufactured from mid-1903 through 1908 with a total production of only about 7,500. This exceptional Model 1902 Sporting pistol was manufactured mid-production in 1905. The pistol features the slide with the front serrations marked on the left side with the later two block, two line marking "BROWNING'S PATENT" / APR. 20. 1897 SEPT. 9. 1902." and "COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG. CO. / HARTFORD. CONN. U.S.A." followed by the circled Rampant Colt and "AUTOMATIC COLT / CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" on the right side. The serial number is marked on the left side of the frame. Fixed blade and notch sights, casehardened rounded hammer spur, niter blue trigger, all blue barrel and blue magazine marked "PAT'D SEPT. 9, 1884" on the bottom. Fitted with hard rubber checkered grips with "COLT" in a banner at the top and the Rampant Colt in the center.

Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 95% plus bright original high polished blue finish with some speckled flaking and a very small area of minor pitting on the slide and thinning on the bottom of the slide and grip straps, with areas of smooth brown and gray patina. 98% of the original case colors remain on the hammer and most of the original bright fire blue remains on the trigger. The grips are also excellent with a few minor dings and handling marks, and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The mechanics are excellent.
