Exceptional Colt Camp Perry Early Production 3 Digit Serial Number 444 Single Shot Target Pistol wit

Estimate: $3000 - 4500
Manufactured from 1920 to 1941, however only 63 experimental/prototype units were made from 1920 to 1926 prior to regular production starting in 1926, with this pistol having been manufactured in 1927. Due to the very limited production, the Camp Perry Pistol is one of the least encountered of all Colt cartridge firearms with a total production of only about 2,425. Manufactured in 1927, this model was created by modifying an Officer's Model frame to accept a special flat single shot "cylinder". Colt named this model after the site of the U.S. Target Competition held annually at Camp Perry, Ohio. Standard "CAMP PERRY MODEL" stamped on the left side of the "cylinder". Two line address/patent dates on top of the barrel and caliber on the left side. Matching serial number on the crane, left side of the frame under the grip panel and stamped on the inside of each grip panel. Elevation adjustable front blade sight and windage adjustable rear sight. Flat top frame and fitted with checkered walnut grips with silver Colt medallions. With this lot is a Camp Perry 45 ACP cartridge box made by P.J. O'Hare of Maplewood, N.J.
BBL: 10 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 22 LR
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 444
Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 98% plus original blue finish with some slight wear and minor spotting on the muzzle, and a small ding on the left side of the barrel 3/4 of an inch back of the muzzle. The grips are also excellent with light handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings remain sharp. The action is excellent. The box is very good, the lid has been touched-up with varnish and there are a few minor dings and scratches. An exceptional early Camp Perry that would be difficult to improve on.
