Exceptional Cased Elaborately Engraved Adams Patent Double Action Percussion Revolver with Relief Ca
This is a very nice example of a factory engraved Adams Patent Belgium revolver. The sides of the frame, cylinder, trigger guard, ramrod, tangs, muzzle and breech ends of the barrel, and the top strap are engraved with a floral vine design with a matte background. The left side, front of the frame is marked "ADAMS / 1851/ PATENT" in an oval and the right side is engraved "Adams Patent 11355" in a banner. The cylinder is marked with an oval Liege proofmark. Finished blue with bright hammer and straw colored front sight, nipples, hammer safety and cylinder pin retention spring. Fitted with decoratively carved ivory one piece grip. The buttcap is deep relief engraved with floral designs. Complete in a highly finish rosewood presentation quality case with green fitted felt lining, cleaning rod with wooden handle, brass mold with an iron sprue (numbered to the gun), screwdriver and nipple wrench with wooden handle, oiler, key and powder flask.
BBL: 3 1/2 inch octagon
Stock:
Gauge: 30
Finish: blue
Grips: ivory
Serial Number: 11355
Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 98% of the original high polished blue finish with some minor edge wear on the barrel, some finish loss on the front edge of the cylinder and some minor spotting on the trigger guard. The buttcap has a smooth dull gray patina. The grips are also excellent with an attractive patinated grain and darker contrasting color in the lower areas. The engraving remains sharp and markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The case is very good with a few small minor cracks and scattered scratches on the exterior. The lining is excellent. The accessories are all very fine or better.
