Exceptional 18thto early 19th century folk art carved powder horn from Spanish colonial era probably originating in Mexico. The powder horn measures approximately 8 ½” from tip to end and is finely carved in figures of animals, crossedkeys, geometric designs, wagon wheels, scorpions and other folk art designs including man in sombrero. The quality of the carving is far above average and the neck shows intricate piercing. The horn has a lovely and deep patina and remains ingood condition with some small losses and minor damage around the base with original wood plug still intact. A real collector’s item of much better quality than normally found and somewhat early. Est.: $600-$1200
