Excellent garniture consisting of Italian style rapier and left-handed dagger in 16th century style with pierced blades, silver decorations, identical studded decorations and matching motifs. The rapier blademeasures 37” and shows a maker’s mark “TA” and is nicely pierced and well matched to its companion. Both grips are wire wrapped in proper fashion and show authentic aging. Blades may well be original to the period and during the Victorian era there were several excellent craftsmen who created 19th century arms in the early period style. Even over 100 years ago, authentic arms and armor were rare. This pair would fool most collectors as they appear original unless examined by expert who understands their composition.
