Excellent and Rare Remington No. 1 Long Range Creedmoor Rifle

No. 1 Long Range Creedmoor Rolling Block rifle manufactured by Remington Arms between 1873 and 1890. This Grade "A" rifle features a 34 inch part octagon/part round barrel. The barrel is fitted with the standard wind gauge front sight with spirit level. A standard vernier rear sight with cup sight disk is mounted on the upper tang. The rifle has a straight grain American walnut pistol grip stock and forearm with semi-gloss oil finish. The pistol grip is checkered with an ebony inlay. The forearm has a casehardened steel tip. The barrel has a commercial blue finish. The breechblock, hammer and trigger are a fiery niter blue. The forearm tip, receiver and buttplate are casehardened. The top barrel flat is roll-stamped "E.REMINGTON & SONS. ILION N.Y." in one line. The caliber designation "44S" is stamped on the underside of the barrel. Remington patent dates are roll-stamped in six lines on the left side of the receiver. The right side of the barrel is stamped: "B 26". The serial number, "3757", is stamped across the lower tang, on the underside of the barrel and on the rear face of the forearm. The limited production (estimated at a few hundred) high quality No. 1 Long Range Creedmoor rifles were some of the finest Remington firearms ever produced. These fantastic 19th Century target rifles are rare and very desirable.

Excellent. The rifle is original and retains 95% of the original blue and 90% casehardened finish. Wear is limited to some scattered patches of discoloration on the sides and bottom of the round portion of the barrel. The barrel legend and other markings are crisp. The breechblock, hammer and trigger retain 97% of the niter blue finish. The receiver has vivid case colors and retains more than 95% of the casehardened finish. The case colors on the forearm and buttplate have faded to a mottled gray. The stock and forearm remain excellent with most of the original oil finish. The finish on the forearm has some light handling wear and stock is limited to several very minor storage marks. The checkering on the pistol grip is crisp. Wear on the stock is limited to several very minor storage marks. This is an excellent original example of a rare and desirable Remington No. 1 Long Range Creedmoor rifle.
