Excellent World War II U.S. Contract Colt Model 1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Holster and Magazine Pouch

This excellent example of a Colt Model 1911A1 pistol manufactured in 1940. This was in the first of serial number block of pistols (1,300) shipped to the Springfield Armory in 1940. It has the pre-WWII brush blue finish with blue barrel. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line/two block patent dates and address markings with the Rampant Colt in the center and the top of the slide is marked with a "P" ahead of the rear sight. The right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number, and M1911A1 U.S. ARMY". The left side of the slide is marked with the "CSR", the inspection mark of Major Charles S. Reed below the slide hold back and "P" below the magazine release. The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked with a "P" over the Colt triangle "VP" proof and "69" is on the opposite side. The matching serial number is stamped on the rear of the slide behind the firing pin stop. Standard fixed sights, blue "COLT/45 AUTO" marked magazine and fitted with brown checkered plastic grips and lanyard ring on the heel. The pistol is complete with a WWI contract magazine pouch marked "P&B CO./JAN. 1918" on the inside of the flap, two extra blue Colt marked magazines and a WWII, Sears 1942 dated russet leather Model 1916 holster with tie-down strap.

Excellent. The pistol retains 97% plus of the original brush blue finish. There is some light holster wear on the muzzle end of the slide and the finish has thinned very slightly on the edges of the backstrap and main spring housing. There are some very minor spots of surface rust on the top and forward edges of the slide and the grip strap and some minor takedown scratches on the frame. The barrel chamber has 90% of the original blue finish with some cycling wear. The grips are also excellent with slight handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings are crisp. All of the magazines have 95% or more of the blue finish. The holster and magazine pouch are very good with some minor flexing on the flap.
