Manufacturer: Remington Arms Inc Model: 1903 A4
This is an outstanding example of an early WWII Model 1903A4 Sniper Rifle made by the Remington Arms Company that was manufactured in the first block of serial numbers. These rifles were originally issued from 1943-45, again in Korea and even in the early days of Vietnam. This type of rifle is what was portrayed in the excellent WWII epic movie; "Saving Private Ryan". The top/front area of the barrel is marked "RA/Ordnance Bomb/3-44" and the rifle was correctly made without the front sight. The receiver is correctly marked in two blocks on the left and right sides of the receiver; "U.S./REMINGTON/MODEL 03-A3" on the left side, with serial number "3418865" on the right side and has been fitted with a correct WWII Redfield style scope base complete with original scope rings that is fitted with an original WWII Weaver M73B1 contract sniper scope. The U.S. Army contract scope is marked: "TELESCOPE M73B1/STOCK NO. 7579931/SERIAL NO. 34369", with the serial number correctly etched not stamped. The rifle has all parkerized components; trigger guard and barrel bands with an original blued sniper rifle bolt assembly, marked with a small capital "R" on the underside of the bolt handle. The stock is a late war "C" stock made by the Keystone Company, that is marked in the cutout with a capital letter "K". It has a boxed, "BA/JPL" cartouche on the left side and a circled "P" proof on the underside of the pistol grip. The rifle is complete with an original WWII style canvas sling.
