Excellent World War II Nazi 1940-42 Code Mauser Luger Pistol Rig with Two Matching Magazines and 1940 Dated Holster

This is a very fine example of an original pre-war 1940 dated, "42 code" Nazi Mauser Luger rig. These Lugers feature a salt blue metal finish with checkered walnut grips. The chamber area is marked with the full date of 1940 with the new "42" code marking for the Mauser factory on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the early double "Eagle/655" proofs and the single "Eagle/Swastika" firing proof, with both proofmarks also on the top rear section of the barrel. The left side of breechblock is also marked with the eagle firing proof. The safety and extractor are marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. This pistol is complete with two matching Type III Army magazines that have the pinned aluminum bases marked "8917/c/Eagle 655" and "8917/c/+/Eagle 655". Complete with a brown 1940 dated leather holster marked "DLU/1940/Eagle WaA721" on the back.

Excellent plus. The pistol retains 99% original blue finish showing some wear on the edges and high spots, and thinning on the grip straps. The grips are excellent showing some minor bruising and nicks in the otherwise sharp checkering. The markings are clear. The holster is excellent with an attractive light brown color, some handling marks, minor staining on the lower toe area, tight stitching and clear sharp markings.
