Estimate: $9500 - 12000
Manufacturer: Mauser Model: P08
This is a scarce example of a WWII production P.08 Luger, The components were manufactured by the Mauser factory with the desirable "41/42" code along with the small "Ku" serial number suffix for the Luftwaffe. It is theorized that these "Ku" marked P.08 Lugers were actually a very late 1944 contract for the Luftwaffe. They were assembled by the Krieghoff factory using P.08 Luger parts from the Mauser factory. It is estimated that in total a quantity of 5,000 were manufactured. This example has the "41" date on top of the chamber area with "byf" the wartime code for the Mauser factory on the front toggle. The left side of the barrel extension has the "Ku" proof added behind the serial number. This example has standard military markings and serial number placement. The full serial number "1355" is stamped on the frame and barrel extension only with the last two digits of the serial number "55" stamped on the various small parts. The barrel is marked with a small "S/42" proof on the underside and a late war "Krieghoff/LZA" Luftwaffe acceptance proof on the upper left side of the barrel. This Luger is complete with two early type 1 chrome plated Police magazines with the "Haenel Schmeisser markings on the side of the magazine body with the aluminum bases, each stamped "1/1355/eagle proof" and "2/1355/eagle C" proof. This lot is complete with an original 1941 dated black leather Luger holster marked on the back side "eagle/WaA727/cxb/41/P.08".
