Excellent Winchester Model 1894 Deluxe, Extra Light, Take-Down Rifle with Cody Museum Factory Letter

The exceptional Deluxe Winchester Model 1894 lever action rifle is documented/accompanied with a Cody Firearms Museum letter. The letter states that this pre-1898 manufactured Model 1894 rifle was shipped late from the Winchester warehouse on April 13, 1901 and describes the rifle features as: 24 inch round barrel, "Plain trigger, Checkered stock with pistol grip, 1/2 magazine, Shotgun butt with rubber buttplate, Oil Finish, Takedown" and "Extra Light". The rifle has a high polish blue finish on the barrel, half-magazine, forearm cap and receiver. The hammer and lever are casehardened. The forearm and pistol grip stock are deluxe, fancy grain, walnut with "Style H" checkering and a piano finish. The stock has a black, hard rubber, checkered buttplate with the embossed Winchester logo in the center and the pistol grip has a black, hard rubber, cap embossed with "WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS". The barrel has a No. 21 Sporting Front Sight with nickel silver blade and a special order "Winchester Express" rear sight. The rear sight has three short yardage leaves graduated at 50, 100 and 200 yards with platinum sight lines. A Lyman folding combination rear sight is mounted on the receiver tang. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped: "MANUFACTURED BY THE/-WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.-" in two lines ahead of the rear sight. "NICKEL STEEL BARREL/ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER" is roll-stamped in two lines on the left side of the barrel between the rear sight and the receiver. The caliber, "30 W.C.F.", is roll-stamped on the top of the barrel just in front of the receiver. The serial number "100406" is roll-stamped across the bottom of the receiver.

Excellent. The rifle retains 97% plus of the original blue finish overall. Finish wear is limited to some thinning on the edges of the forearm cap and some slight edge wear on receiver high points. The barrel markings are crisp. The checkering on the stock and forearm is sharp. The stock and forearm retain nearly all of the polished piano finish. Wear is limited to a few scattered and very minor handling or storage marks. The rifle is in excellent mechanical condition. This is an excellent example of a scarce Winchester Model 1894 Deluxe, Extra Light, Take-Down rifle.
