These scarce rifles were manufactured with the same action as the Winchester-Lee Straight Pull Rifle adopted by the U.S. Navy in 1895 and chambered for the then revolutionary 6mm Lee (.236) cartridge. The included Cody verification record confirms the serial number and Lyman receiver and front sights with the caliber listed as sporting and the stock as "L". The verification also states that the rifle was received in the warehouse on March 9, 1901 and shipped on March 11, 1901 with no address given. Besides the aforementioned sights the rifle also has a buckhorn rear sight. The barrel has the two line address ahead of the rear sight, two line nickel steel marking on the left side and ".236 U.S.N." at the breech with the two line patent dates marking on the left side of receiver. Smooth pistol grip stock with groove forearm, Winchester hard rubber grip cap and smooth shotgun style iron buttplate.
