Excellent WWII Production Colt Government Model .45 Semi-Automatic Pistol
This excellent Colt Model 1911 Government Model Semi-Automatic was manufactured in 1917. The pistol has the high polish commercial blue finish, barrel with polished chamber and checkered walnut stocks. The pistol is complete with the original, 'two-tone' magazine with lanyard loop floor plate. The pistol has the correct short hammer, flat-top rear sight introduced in 1913, and 1914 style safety lock with thick thumb-piece. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped: "GOVERNMENT MODEL/C 92079" in two lines behind the slide-stop hole. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped: "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 45" in two lines in front of the ejection port. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Colt 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block followed by the two line Colt Hartford address. The Rampant Colt trademark is stamped on the left side of the slide behind the grip serrations. The front of the left trigger guard bow is stamped with the Colt "Triangle/VP" proofmark and a "T" assembly mark is stamped on the left side of the bow near the frame. The barrel is blued with a polished chamber and has a "P" and "S" stamped in front of the lug. An "S" commercial production order mark is stamped on the top of the frame behind the disconnector hole and a "T" assembly mark is stamped to the right of the hole.

Excellent. The pistol retains 97% plus of the original blue finish. There is some very minor holster wear on the edges of the slide at the muzzle and some scattered and very minor handling marks on the slide and grip straps. The grip screws have mist of the blue finish and show minimal screwdriver wear. The walnut stocks are in excellent plus condition with very sharp checkering. The barrel has a bright bore and retains most of the blue finish. All of the markings are crisp. The 'two-tone' magazine is in excellent condition. This is an excellent example of a 1917 production Colt Government Model Automatic Pistol. These Word War II civilian pistols are seldom encountered due to the fact that Colt was devoting most of its production efforts to supplying the U.S. military services.
