This is an excellent example of a late WWII Nazi high turret sniper rifle that was manufactured by the Mauser factory and fitted with a Carl Zeiss marked scope. The turret mount rifles were considered the most efficient design of the K98 rifles and they were in service from their introduction in 1939 to the end of the war. The top of the receiver ring is covered by the front turret, the left side of the receiver is marked with a single Nazi firing proof and a single small "Eagle 135 Waffenamt" next to the serial number. The receiver side wall is correctly marked "Mod. 98". The left rear of the barrel is marked with a single Nazi firing proof also next to the serial number. The rifle has all stamped and welded sheet metal parts, barrel bands, and late war trigger guard and floor plate, and the bolt has the correct milled safety. The rifle is fitted with an all blued sniper scope made by Karl Kahles Optiker, with the top of the tube marked with only the wartime code (cad) for the Kahles company with the left side of the elevation adjustment knob serial numbered "44759" with the correct elevation range markings on top that are graduated from 100-800 meters. The front ring is serialized "34597" which matches the rifle, number 34597. (Very desirable!) The barrel has the standard inverted "V" front sight with the sheet metal front sight cover with the tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters. The rifle is equipped with the standard wartime laminated stock and handguard, with the sheet metal cupped buttplate, with the right side of the butt and grip area marked with a small "eagle / WaA135" proof. The rifle is complete with, the slotted head, steel cleaning rod with and unmarked leather sling.
