This is an outstanding example of a mid-1942 Luger pistol that was produced at the end of regular German Army production before they switched over to the new P38 production. These late Mauser production Lugers have acquired the collector term "Black Widow" based on them having the late war all salt blued finish which is very dark in color, they have the late "P08" frame markings on the left side, they are fitted with the black plastic checkered grips with the late type four black plastic magazines with the reinforcing pin through the center of the base. As noted this example is in the "f" block which would have been produced in the mid-1942 timeframe, with the last Army Luger being produced in the "m" serial number block. This example has the correct two digit "42" chamber date with the front toggle marked with "byf" the late war secret code for the Mauser factory. The right side of the barrel extension has the late production, double, "eagle/135" Mauser Waffenamt proof along with the single eagle firing proof, both of which are also located on the left and right, rear end of the barrel, respectively. It is correctly numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number (7391) stamped on the front of the frame, the left side of the barrel extension and the underside of the barrel. The with the last two digits of the serial number (91) are located on all the various remaining small parts, except the magazines and grips, which are unnumbered. It has the standard fixed sights with the safety and extractor respectively marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN". As noted this pistol has the late Luger production, blued type four-Army magazines, with "P08", "eagle/37 (twice)" and "fxo" proof on the left side of the blued magazine body with the unnumbered black plastic base with the reinforcing pin through the center of the base. This pistol is complete with a late production, black leather holster that is marked on the back: "DLU/1941/WaA641" (Ewal Lunenschloss-Militarefekten-Fabrik Solingen) with the large P.08 marked in the upper right hand corner, and it is complete with an original WWII take down tool that has a single eagle/655 Waffenamt on the front.
