This is the scarce and desirable Type 2 Japanese takedown "Paratrooper" rifle. Manufactured at the Toriimatsu factory under Nagoya Arsenal control, the Type 2 was designed to be taken down and stowed in an individual paratrooper's jump bag, an improvement over the original doctrine of loading full length rifles into drop pods, which would then have to be recovered on the ground after the jump. The top of the receiver has the unblemished Chrysanthemum and Kanji markings for "2/ Type". The left side of the receiver is marked with the assembly number, serial number and the Nagoya arsenal "fighting fish" factory mark. Inverted "V" front sight and 1500 meter ladder rear sight with AA wings. Smooth two piece stock with the cupped buttplate, side mounted sling swivels and a drain hole ahead of the trigger guard. Assembly number "196" is present on the barrel near the rear sight, front and rear halves of the takedown hardware and screw, with the wedge numbered "1" and the barrel lug numbered "395". The dust cover matches the rifle, as does the bolt. With a spring loaded copper muzzle protector.
