This Model 1911A1 Automatic Pistol was manufactured by Colt Firearms and shipped to the U.S. Army in the beginning of 1944. The right side of the receiver has the Ordnance escutcheon stamped behind the grip panel with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/No. 1616894" roll-stamped in two lines behind the slide stop hole. "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY" is roll stamped in front of the slide stop hole. The left side of the frame has the final U.S. Army Ordnance final inspection mark "G.H.D." below the slide stop and a "P" proof mark is stamped behind the magazine release. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Colt 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block, the Rampant Colt trademark and "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." in two lines. The barrel is blue and stamped "COLT 45 AUTO" on the lower left side of the chamber and "P" on the left side of the barrel lug. The trigger is stamped with a knurled face. The slide stop and thumb safety lock are checkered and the main spring housing is serrated and it is fitted with the checkered wide spur hammer. The grips have the wide reinforcing rings around the screws and interior strengthening rib and mold numbers. The slide has the mid-late WWII production front sight blade with serrated face and is correctly not serial numbered. The top of the slide is stamped with a "P" proof mark between the rear sight and the ejection port. The feed ramp is not parkerized and it is complete with two magazines, one is blue and is stamped with a small "R" on the top of the floor plate lip and the other one is still wrapped in brown waxed paper. It is complete with a reproduction brown Kraft box, with the original style markings on the lid, that has been numbered to the pistol.
