This is a nice example of a late 1941 Mauser Luger pistol that was produced towards the end of regular Nazi Army production. These late Mauser production Lugers have been termed, "Black Widow" Lugers based on them having the late war, all salt blued finish which is very dark in color, with the late "P08" frame markings on the left side. This luger has the "41" chamber date with the front toggle marked with "byf", the wartime code for the Mauser factory. The right side of the barrel extension has the "eagle/655" Waffenamt proofs along with the single eagle firing proof. It is numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number (4163) stamped on the front of the frame, the left side of the barrel extension and the underside of the barrel. With the last two digits of the serial number (63) stamped on the various small parts. This example is fitted with the late war black plastic unmarked or proofed grips. It has standard sights, standard safety/extractor markings and is complete with two, type three aluminum base Army magazines. The blue magazine bodies are marked with the "fxo/Eagle 37/P08" markings on the side and both aluminum bases are stamped; "4163/n" and "4163/n/+" with no other markings or proofs. This pistol is complete with a black leather holster marked on the back "jkh/41/WaA927" with the large P.08 marking in the upper right hand corner. It is complete with a WWII take down tool marked with a faint "Eagle/655" Waffenamt proof.
