This is an excellent example of an early all original prewar Nazi K98 rifle that was manufactured by the Mauser factory. The top of the receiver is marked "243/1939" the right side is marked with three "eagle/26" Mauser proofs with the left side marked with the single large Nazi eagle firing proof and the serial number. The left side receiver wall has the block "Mod.98", the left rear breech section of the barrel is marked with the single Nazi eagle firing proof over the serial number. It has the early all milled barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate and the barrel is fitted with the standard inverted "V" front sight with the standard military tangent rear sight graduated from 100 to 2,000 meters. The rifle has the early wartime laminated stock and handguard with the flat buttplate and take down washer thought the side of the butt stock. The right side of the stock below the stock washer has the single Luftwaffe "L" acceptance proof mark and directly below that is the double Nazi "eagle/26" acceptance proofs. The underside of the stock has the serial number and single Waffenamt proof mark. The rifle is complete with a push-on front sight cover, with an early smooth brown leather K98 rifle sling that is stamped LK/1938 on the keeper.
