Excellent WWI DWM 1917 Dated Navy Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol
Issued during the First World War, many were destroyed or altered following the Armistice, and are seldom encountered in the pristine original condition. Blade front and two position (100 and 200 marked) notch rear sights, with the date "1917 on the front sight, atop the chamber and on the left frame rail. The front toggle is marked with the "DWM" scroll. "Crown" firing proofs are visible on the barrel, extension and breechblock, with "crown/ M" Navy proofs on the extension and barrel. Matching full or partial numbers are present on the barrel, extension, frame, takedown latch, side plate, trigger, safety, hold-open, sear, toggle links and breechblock. Nickel plated magazine with the unnumbered Navy wooden bottom base lug with a "crown/ M" proof. The pistol has a rust blue finish with "straw" colored small components and checkered walnut grips, with a set of hand carved markings on the inside from a previous owner and a matching number on the right side of the backstrap.
