Excellent WWI Colt Model 1911  Black Army  Semi-Automatic Pistol
This is an excellent example of a late WWI Model 1911 pistol as manufactured by Colt in 1918. The left side of the slide has the two-line, two-block patent dates and Hartford address markings, with the Rampant Colt in the middle of the markings. The right side of the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911.U.S. ARMY". The left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", with an "eagle head / S12" proof above the magazine release. The right side of the frame has the serial number. It has a correct blue Colt WWI barrel that is marked on top of the chamber area with the small "H" and "P" proofs. Late WWI checkered thumb safety, smooth trigger, checkered slide stop and wide spur hammer, with the flat main spring housing. This pistol has the standard WWI Colt military blue finish with a set of diamond checkered walnut grips. Complete with a two tone unmarked magazine with the lanyard ring on the base plate.

Condition: Excellent overall with 95% of the correct original brush dark blue finish with light wear on the edges and high spots overall with finish loss on the main spring housing, the chamber area of the barrel with thinning on the very front edge of the trigger guard bow and front grip strap. The grips are also excellent showing nice sharp checkering on both sides with a few minor dings.
