This is an excellent example of a very early first year production, (1915), Colt First Series Pre woodsman pistol. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. / PATENTED DEC. 22, 1903", the left side of the slide is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC / CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE", with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations and the serial number marked on the front strap. Distinctive "pencil barrel", with elevation adjustable front blade, windage adjustable rear sights, oval checkered panel on the back strap, smooth trigger, two tone Colt marked magazine and fitted with checkered walnut grips. The magazine has the brass followed and a hole on the upper left side and the chamber appendage, found on the very early models. Complete with the original maroon hinged lid box numbered to the gun, with end label reading "COLT AUTOMATIC PISTOL / LONG RIFLE .22" and the correct "Colt's revolvers" and "This Medallion" labels on the inside of the lid and body. In the box is an original manual, "Special Instructions" pamphlet and an advertising brochure with ink stamped "SOLE COAST BRANCH / PHIL. B. BEKEART CO. / 717 MARKET ST. / San Francisco, California" at the top.
