This is an excellent all original, unaltered Colt Service Model Ace as produced in mid to late 1945. The frame has the U.S. Ordnance Corps Cross-Cannon stamped behind the plastic stock with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/S M 8972" stamped in two lines behind the slide stop hole. The left side of the frame has the U.S. Ordnance "GHD" inspector with the Colt factory sub inspector stamps on the front trigger guard bow. The left side of the slide has standard Colt's patent dates and Hartford address in two unbroken lines followed by the Rampant Colt on the left, with the right side stamped with standard Colt Service Ace markings, which is correctly not serial numbered to the receiver. This Ace has the late production features that include: checkered brown plastic stocks, stamped trigger, serrated main spring housing, and narrow hammer and the magazine is blued and the bottom of the floor plate is marked "COLT/22 ACE L.R./SERVICE MODEL.".
