Excellent U.S. Springfield M1 Garand Upgraded National Match Service Rifle
This is a very nice example of early WWII M1 Garand receiver that was subsequently converted into a National match rifle. The six digit receiver was produced in late 1941 or early 1942 and was subsequently accurized to National Match standards service rifle. The barrel is a very early model that is marked with a small Cross proof next to "MP D6535448 2-53 A8" and it has the correct etched or stamped "NM" marking on the left front exposed section of the barrel. It is also fitted with a late production National Match marked operating rod with drawing number7790772-SA. It has a late bolt that is marked, 6528287-SA/Z2 with a post war marked trigger group. It is fitted with a GI style front sight that is marked "NM .062" on the side with a National Match rear sight set that is marked "NM BME" with the base marked NM2/A with the hooded aperture that is also marked ".520". It is fitted with a walnut stock and handguard set and the complete rifle has been fully accurized by unitizing (with epoxy and screws) the front handguard and barrel band with the complete action glassed bedded into the stock. The stock, rear hand guard, operating rod and trigger group have all been hand painted with the last four digits of the serial number during assembly and the rear section of the barrel has been polished to ensure a smooth operation when firing. The rifle has the correct GI style parkerized finish with a varnished stock and hand guard set.

Excellent with 97% of the parkerized finish overall showing wear on the edges and high spots from range use and the revarnished stock and hand guards are all in very fine condition showing minimal handling marks with light scratches on the sides. Mechanically excellent.
