Excellent U.S. Colt Army Model 1901 Double Action Revolver
Manufactured in 1901 with a half-moon blade front and notch rear sights. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line Hartford address and patent date (1884-1895) markings with "COLT D.A. 38" on the left side and a "P" on the underside. "RAC" is marked on the left rear of the frame on the bottom of the left grip panel and on the rear face of the cylinder. "6164" marked on the cylinder release, frame and crane, with a "K" on the cylinder release and an "8" on the frame under the crane. The butt is marked "U.S./ ARMY/ MODEL/ 1901/ No/ 166/ 164" and features a lanyard ring. Fitted with smooth walnut grips with a cartouche at the bottom of each panel and "1901" date above the cartouche on the left panel. The back of each grip panel is marked "6164".

Excellent. The barrel retains 97% of the original blue finish with some thinning at the muzzle, the right side of the barrel also shows some minor pitting at the muzzle end. The frame retains 97% of the bright original high polish blue finish with thinning and minor pitting on the top strap. There is some minor thinning on the rear grip strap of the frame and the bottom of the trigger guard. The hammer and trigger show 95% plus niter blue finish with only very minor thinning. The cylinder shows 98% plus of the bright original blue finish with some edge wear and a thin drag line. The grips are excellent with crisp original cartouches and only a few light handling marks. All markings are excellent. Mechanically excellent. These Martially inspected U.S. Army DA Colt revolvers are seldom encountered in this excellent condition.
