Excellent Stevens No. 45 Ideal Single Shot Rifle with Scope

This is an excellent example of a Stevens No. 45 single shot rifle manufactured between 1896 and 1916. The sights have been removed and a filler block installed in the rear dovetail. The rifle is equipped with a Lyman Junior Target spot 10 power scope with screw on lens caps and a mid-range tang mounted peep sight. The top barrel flat near the breech is marked with the two line Stevens address and the upper left flat is marked "25.21". The matching serial number is marked on the lower tang and bottom of the barrel ahead of the forearm. The barrel under the forearm is marked "1" and the face of the receiver is marked "45". The action and lever are casehardened while the remaining surfaces are blue. Double set triggers and mounted with a smooth forearm and high comb Swiss style straight grip stock with a nickel plated Swiss buttplate.

Excellent. The barrel retains 98% original blue finish with some wear on the muzzle, some overall thinning to plum and some high edge wear. The receiver retains 97% original bright case colors with some areas of silver gray on the tangs. The lever retains 75% original case colors with areas faded to silver gray. The wood is also excellent with a few overall scattered minor dings and dents. The buttplate retains 98% original nickel finish with some minor flaking and edge wear. The scope is excellent with a few minor scratches and scuffs, and clear optics. The markings remain sharp and clear. Mechanically excellent. A very nice Stevens No. 45 rifle.
