Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 70
This super grade Model 70 carbine chambered in the rare 35 Remington was manufactured in 1954. All Super Grade pre-64 Model 70 carbines in 35 Remington were manufactured on a special order only. Winchester introduced the 35 Remington caliber to its line of Model 70s in 1941 and offered the caliber for a short time before being discontinued in 1947. Adding to the rarity of the chambering is the fact that this Super Grade carbine was manufactured 7 years after the 35 Remington was discontinued on the Model 70 by Winchester. The 20 inch barrel features a hooded ramp front sight and adjustable sporting type rear sight with the left side having standard Winchester markings followed by "35 REM." The Winchester factory proof is stamped on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The hinged floor plate is stamped "-SUPER GRADE-." The receiver is tapped for scope/sight mounting. The rifle has a polished bolt with the number "3011799" (the last "9" is likely a factory error). Straight receiver tang, late safety and hallow bolt knob. The straight comb pistol grip stock has a cheekpiece, ebony forend tip, multi-point checkering, quick release sling swivels, hard rubber Winchester grip cap and checkered steel buttplate, all features of a super grade stock.
