In the accompanying factory letter this revolver is identified as being shipped to New York distributor M. W. Robinson on May 26, 1883 as a nickel finished revolver, with the additional note that the shipment in question was designated for exportation. The revolver has standard blade and notch sights, with the rib having the two line address/patent dates marking flanked by Maltese crosses. Casehardened hammer and trigger, with blue barrel latch and recurve trigger guard and fitted with checkered hard rubber S&W logo impressed grips. The cylinder is fluted and has dual stop lines. Numbers match on the latch, barrel, cylinder and frame.

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 97% original nickel finish, with some light handling marks and spotting and flaking overall, with more flaking on the cylinder. There is some frosting of the grip straps. Bright and vivid case colors are present on the hammer and trigger. The start of a gray patina is present on the trigger guard. Grips are excellent, with some mild handling marks and some fading to a brown color. Mechanically excellent.
