Excellent Annie Oakley Signed Photograph "To Robert With Kind Wishes from Annie Oakley" on back of photo, 7.5" x 5 " White Photography Studio, New York. Noted on the reverse, "The Western Girl 1902 & 1903." The Adopted daughter of Sitting Bull, nicknamed "Little Sure Shot," and star of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, Annie dazzled crowds by shooting the centers out of dimes in mid-air, and shooting playing cards on edge at 90 feet, then hitting them five more times as they fell. She routinely shot the ashes off her husband's cigarettes, while in his mouth, as part of the Butler / Oakley act. Annie played a significant role in breaking down barriers to women in entertainment. In her lifetime, she overcame poverty, mistreatment, physical injury, the childhood death of her parents, and a lack of formal education to become a legend in her own time. She remains a household name today. Only a few of these have come to market in recent years, so take your best shot!
