Excellent. The carbine has over 90% of the original blue and casehardened finish and shows only light storage wear. The barrel has nearly all of the original dull blue finish and has patches of the original storage grease on the bottom. The bore is bright. The casehardened finish on the barrel band, receiver, breechblock and loading lever has faded with age but has distinct case colors. The casehardened finish on the buttplate has silvered and has some age discoloration. All of the markings are sharp. The stock and forearm have some light storage and handling marks but remain in excellent condition. The Ordnance final inspection marks is sharp. This is an excellent example of an important Indian War cavalry carbine.
