Excellent Remington Model 03-A3 Bolt Action Rifle
This is an excellent example of a Remington Model 03-A3 rifle that was, according to consignor notes, owned by a Remington factory guard in New York during WWII. The top of the receiver is marked "U.S. / REMINGTON / MODEL 03-A3" over the serial number. The barrel is marked "RA / ordnance bomb/ 8-43" behind the front sight and "P" on the underside. Blade front sight marked "R" on the right side of the base and "A" on the right side of the blade and adjustable rear peep sight. The rifle has a GI green parkerized finish on the barrel and receiver with the remaining parts blue. Fitted with a two bolt straight grip stock without finger grooves, full hand guard, sling swivels and steel checkered buttplate with compartment. The left side of the stock is marked "RA", crossed cannon and boxed "FJA" cartouches with the circled "P" on the underside in the wrist area and three inspection marks ahead of the floor plate.
BBL: 24 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 30-06
Finish: parkerized/blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 3954523

Unissued and unfired. The barrel and receiver retain 98% plus original GI green parkerized finish. The bolt assembly, trigger guard and floor plate retain 98% original blue finish with some mild thinning on the handle, some minor scratches on the trigger guard and floor plate, and a small amount of light spotting on the floor plate. There is some light spotting on the barrel band and forend cap. With exception of a small deep scratch on the left side below the wrist, the stock and hand guard are excellent with a few overall scattered minor dings and dents. The boxed cartouche was lightly stamped, otherwise the cartouches are clear. The markings on the metal are sharp and clear. The action is excellent. The bore is mint.
