Excellent Rare Merwin, Hulbert & Company Serial Number 2 Medium Frame Double-Action Revolver with Or
Merwin, Hulbert & Co., Medium Frame Double Action Revolver with flat butt and five-shot cylinder. The revolver has a nickel plated finish with casehardened hammer, trigger and trigger guard. The black, hard rubber, two-piece grips have checkered panels. The hammer has the distinctive folding spur. The serial number "2" and "9239" is stamped on the left side of the frame beneath the grips. The number, "2" is stamped on the inside of the barrel lug, the rear face of the of the cylinder and on the left side of the frame beneath the grips. The inside of the hammer spur is numbered "389". The top of the barrel rib is roll-stamped: "MERWIN, HULBERT & CO. NEW YORK U.S.A./PAT. APR. 17. 77 JUNE 13. 80 MAR. 14. 82 JAN.9.83" in two lines. "38 CAL." is stamped on the left side of the frame below the cylinder. "Pat'd/Jan. 27.85" is stamped on the right side of the hammer spur. The revolver is complete with the original brown drab cardboard box and letter from O.C. Young dated 2002 speaking in regards to the quality, condition and uniqueness of the revolver being serial number "2". The bottom of the box has the original tissue paper liner.

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 95% of the original nickel-plated finish. Wear is limited to several spots of minor flaking on the left side of the barrel, cylinder, and frame. The backstrap shows light handling wear with no nickel remaining. The hammer, trigger, and trigger guard retain nearly 95% of the original casehardened finish. The barrel and frame markings are sharp. The grips are in excellent condition with minor handling wear. The action functions perfectly. The box is in good condition with no significant wear and no repairs. The exterior has nearly all of the original brown drab finish. The instruction label on the inside of the lid shows some deterioration and is about 75% complete. This is an excellent example of a Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Revolver with rare box in good condition.
