Manufactured in 1976. In 1969 Colt restarted serial numbers with a 00 prefix at 001001S. That series reached 099999S in 1976, then passed 100000S and reached 101336S before it was noticed by Colt that numbers used in 1952 were being duplicated. In order to salvage the 1,336 guns already numbered past 100000S, they were hand stamped with an "S" prefix as well as having the "S" suffix, thus creating the "Double S" variation. All known examples are Huntsman pistols. This particular pistol is one of the 1,336 "Double S" pistols. The left side of the barrel is marked with the one line address, the left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt over "HUNTSMAN" and the left side of the slide is marked "COLT" followed by the two line caliber designation. The serial number is marked on the right side of the frame. Blade front and windage adjustable rear sights, smooth trigger, blue Colt marked magazine and fitted with checkered walnut grips. The accompanying factory letter verifies serial number S101147S as .22 Long Rifle, 4 1/2 inch barrel, blue finish, with grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 3 to Graf and Sons, RR 5, Mexico, Missouri on September 15, 1976. complete with the original Colt "woodgrain" box numbered to the gun and papers.

Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 99% plus original blue finish with a few light storage/handling marks and a couple light scuffs on the front strap. The grips are also excellent with a few minor dings and light scratches, and sharp checkering. Clear and crisp markings. The action is excellent. The box is very good with some moderate wear and the end label is beginning to peel at the top. An extremely nice example of a rare "Double S" variation Colt Huntsman pistol.
