Excellent Pre-World War II Colt Ace Model .22 Automatic Pistol with Extra Magazine

The Colt Ace was introduced by Colt in 1931 as a companion pistol to the Model 1911A1 Government Model with approximately 10,745 Ace pistols manufactured by Colt before production ceased in July 1941. This example was manufactured in late 1934. The pistol has the Colt commercial blue finish checkered walnut grips and is complete with two original Colt two tone magazines, both are marked on the floor plate "COLT/ACE/.22 L R". The barrel is blue with a polished chamber. The pistol has an adjustable Partridge target rear sight. The mainspring housing, correctly, lacks the lanyard loop found on Model 1911A1 pistols. The right side of the slide has the distinctive marking "COLT" followed by "ACE" enclosed in a diamond and ".22 LONG/RIFLE". The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the elongated two line Colt Hartford address and patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt in front of the serrations. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number "5728" behind the disconnector hole. A "3" assembler's mark and the Colt "triangle/VP" proofmark are stamped on the left trigger guard bow. The top of the frame is stamped with an "R" production order mark to the right of the disconnector hole.

Excellent with 98% of the original Colt high polish blue finish overall, with edge and high spot wear. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering with minor wear and a couple of minor handling marks. An excellent example of a scarce Colt prewar ACE 22LR pistol.
