This example was manufactured in late 1905 as a .30-03 and was converted to 30-06 before it was issued. The barrel is stamped "SA/flaming bomb/2- 08" just behind the front sight. The receiver has the standard markings and the bolt has the steel lot code "S" stamped on the underside of the safety lug. The sling swivels have a solid shank and the hand guard does not have a sight notch or spring clips. Mounted on a smooth walnut straight grip stock with grasping grooves, no reinforcing bolts, a boxed "J.F.C." cartouche on the left wrist, a circled script "P" on the underside of the wrist and a smooth steel buttplate with a trapdoor. With a Springfield Armory Model 1905 bayonet dated 1908 and a leather scabbard stamped "R.I.A./1911./H.E.K.".

Excellent as arsenal modified with 97% of the crisp blue finish remaining with some scattered flaking and some high edge wear. The stock is also excellent with some scattered minor handling marks and some chipping at the toe. Mechanically fine. The bayonet is very fine with a bright blade having some rub marks and some moderate oxidation on the hilt. The scabbard is fine with scratches, indentions and scuffs.
