This is an excellent example of a Colt .45 Government Model Semi-Automatic Pistol with factory letter. The factory letter states that the pistol was shipped to the Kelly-Duluth Co., in Duluth, Minnesota on January 20, 1930. Documents that accompany state that it was formerly owned by Chester Naeseth, the Chief of Police of Hibbing, Minnesota, from 1928-1953. The pistol has the Colt commercial blue finish and is fitted with full-checkered walnut stocks. The barrel is blued with polished chamber top and is stamped with an "S" in front of the lug. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped: "GOVERNMENT MODEL/C158099" in two lines behind the slide stop hole. The left side of the trigger guard is stamped with a "1" assemblers mark above the Colt "triangle/VP" proofmark. A "G" production order mark is stamped on the top of the frame to the right of the disconnector hole. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE .45" followed by the Rampant Colt trademark. The left side of the frame has the elongated, two-line, Colt Hartford address with 1897-1913 patent dates. The serial number, "158/099" is stamped underneath the firing pin stop. The frame and slide serial numbers match. The pistol is complete with the original, two-tone, magazine marked: "COLT/45 AUTO" on the bottom of the floor plate.

Condition: Excellent, The pistol retains 98% of the original blue finish. Wear is limited to some minor finish wear on the edges of the slide and the lower edge of the frame. The left stock is in excellent condition. The fine condition right stock shows moderate handling wear and the finish on the right stock screws is thin. The correct dual tone magazine is in excellent condition with 85% of the original finish due to wear on floor plate. All of the barrel and slide markings are crisp. This is an excellent example of a pre-war Colt Government Model Semi-Automatic Pistol with providence to a well known Minnesota Sheriff.
