Excellent Pre-War Colt Ace Model .22 Automatic Pistol with Original Matching Number Factory Box

Manufactured in 1933. The right side of the slide has the distinctive marking "COLT" followed by "ACE" in a diamond and ".22 LONG/RIFLE". The left side of the slide is marked with the elongated two line Colt Hartford address/patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number "4421". A "3" assembler's mark and the Colt "triangle/VP" proofmark are stamped on the upper left trigger guard bow, and "20" on the opposite. The top of the frame is stamped with an "R" production order mark to the right of the disconnector hole. Colt commercial blue finish, original Colt Ace marked two tone magazine, blue barrel with bright chamber, half moon blade front and adjustable rear target sights, and fitted with checkered walnut grips. The heel correctly lacks the lanyard loop found on Model 1911A1 pistols. The Colt Ace was introduced by Colt in 1931 as a companion arm to the Model 1911A1 Government Model. Approximately 10,745 Ace pistols were manufactured by Colt before production ceased in July 1941. The pistol is complete with the original hinged lid maroon box correctly numbered to the gun on the bottom in grease pencil. One end of the box has the blue "ACE" label with white print. The interior of the box lid and bottom are printed with Colt advertising. The box is complete with a blue steel screwdriver and some original packing material.

Excellent. The pistol retains 98% of the bright original high polish commercial blue finish. The only wear is some minor finish loss on the edges of the slide. The grips are also excellent with light handling marks and sharp checkering. The magazine retains nearly 98% of the original blue finish. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The box is very good with wear limited to several minor dents in the lid, some scuff marks on the edges and some minor flaking on the corners. The tool is excellent. This is an excellent example of a 1933 production Colt Ace with the original serial numbered box.
