Excellent Pair of Colt 1849 Revolvers in Case A) Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver in Case
This is a very good example of a Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver manufactured in 1866. The top of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S.AMERICA" and the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS / PATENT". The cylinder is roll engraved with the stage coach hold-up scene as well as "COLTS PATENT" and a matching partial serial number in two panels. The complete serial number is marked on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and backstrap, and the loading lever is unmarked. Silver finished brass grip straps marked "31 CAL" on the trigger guard shoulder. Smooth one piece varnished walnut grips. In a burgundy velvet lined case with part B of this lot, a dual chamber bullet mold, brass flask with raised eagle, Eley Brothers 250 count tin and Colt's Patent mold.

Condition: Excellent, with 97% of the bright original high polish blue finish, showing a light gray patina on the high edges of the barrel and in stripes down the cylinder, along with some light handling marks overall. The case colors are 95% intact, showing bright colors with a few hints of silvering at the edges. Grip straps show traces of the original silver, with the exposed brass having turned a darker aged patina. Grips are excellent, with minor pressure dents and varnish loss. Case is excellent, with minor handling marks and lining wear. Action is excellent. Case is relined, accessories are very good with exception of mold which is refinished.

Condition: Excellent, with 90% of the bright original high polish blue finish, showing a gray patina on the edges and cylinder, along with dings around the wedge and light spotting and flaking overall. The case colors are vivid and 85% intact, with some silvering around the edges. Approximately 10% of the silver remains on the brass, with the exposed brass a mixed aged patina. Grips are excellent, with varnish loss around the butt and mild pressure dents.
