This is a nice example of an early original 1937 dated Mauser Luger pistol with the rust blue finish and the straw colored small parts. This is the rarest of the S/42 coded pistols and was made in early 1937. The top of the chamber area is dated 1937 with the "S/42" code markings on the top of the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the double "eagle/63" Waffenamt proofs next to the single spread winged Nazi eagle firing proof which also appears on the right side of the barrel and the left side of the breechblock. The eagle/63 proof is also marked on the left rear of the barrel. Visible numbers on pistol match. The upper safety area and extractor are marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. Blue unmarked magazine with aluminum base numbered to another gun (469r) and fitted with un-numbered checkered walnut grips. Complete with a 1938 dated black leather flap holster with an eagle swastika over "WaA 283" proof on the back and extra blue magazine with aluminum base numbered to another gun (7091s).
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 1338t
Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 95% slightly faded original finish with some muzzle and high edge wear, and some minor thinning on the front and back strap. 80% of the original straw color remains on the small parts. The grips are very fine with the exception of some wear on the lower left panel and a few minor chips in the otherwise crisp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent. The holster is good with some scuffs and wear, and tight stitching.
