Excellent Late WWII Nazi Mauser byf 45 Code Kriegsmodell 98 Bolt Action Rifle
This is an example of a very late K98 rifle manufactured at the Mauser factory. The top of the receiver is marked "Mod. 98" over "byf 45". There is an "eagle / 135" proof on the top and right side of the receiver and eagle firing proof and serial number on the left side. The breech end of the barrel is marked "1007" and partial "eagle / 135" proof. All phosphate finish with blue bolt and rear sight. Hooded raised ramp front sight and adjustable rear tangent sight graduated to 200 meters, correct late war stamped parts with barrel bands correctly screwed to the stock and mounted with a one piece pistol grip stock with firing pin hole in the cupped buttplate and cross hatched leather sling. There is a "eagle / WaA135" proof on the left side, underside and wrist area of the stock.

Condition: Excellent. The breech end of the barrel and receiver retain 95% of the original thinning phosphate finish. The forward portion of the barrel has a smooth dark brown patina. The bolt retains 98% blue finish with some minor wear from normal usage. The stock is very fine with exception of a number of small gouges on the right side ahead of the bolt, several deep scratches and scattered dents, dings and lighter scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
