Excellent Late Production Model 1903 Springfield Armory Rifle
This is a very nice example of a late production 1903 receiver that was produced by Springfield Armory that was rebuilt by the Army at Rock Island Arsenal and then subsequently fitted with a late 1903 Sedgely USMC marked barrel. The top of the receiver has the standard markings over the serial number (1518143) and the barrel is a late WWII replacement version that is marked "USMC/Sedgely/1-44". It is fitted with the correct milled barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate and the bolt is a late production version that is marked "NS" on top of the bolt handle for Nickel Steel. It has a late production walnut "C" stock and hand guard with a single boxed "RIA/FK" cartouche on the left side. The "FK" are the initials for Frank Krack who was the US Ordnance inspector at Rock Island Arsenal during and after WWII through the Korean war era. It has the all late gray parkerized finish and the stock and hand guard exhibit a medium brown matching color overall. It is complete with an unmarked reproduction 1905 leather sling with steel keepers.

Excellent overall with 98% of the late gray parkerized finish overall with minor edge and high spot wear. The stock and hand guard both have only a couple of very minor handling marks with clear and distinct cartouches and proofs. A very nice example of a late production 1903 rifle as manufactured by Springfield Armory.
