This is an excellent example of a commercial Model 1906 American Eagle Luger as produced by DWM. This type of Luger was manufactured expressly for export to the United States to increase sales for DWM with this example being a late production model, chambered in "9mm". These early commercial Lugers are probably some of the best Lugers that the DWM factory ever produced and all feature excellent fit and finish with beautiful straw colors on the smaller components. This model has the correct short style frame and upper receiver with the desirable 4 inch barrel configuration as it was coined by collector, that became the final barrel configuration for all future production. The top of the chamber area marked with the large American Eagle crest and the DWM logo on the front toggle. It has the "Crown "N" proof on the underside of the barrel along with the serial number. The left side of the barrel extension is also marked with the single "Crown" horizontal "N" proof. The front end of the frame is marked with the full serial number over "GERMANY" indicating export outside of Europe and all the various small parts are correctly numbered in the commercial manner with the last two digits of the serial number (13). The pistol is fitted with a set of dark European checkered walnut grips. It is complete with a replacement commercial magazine that has an unmarked wooden base.
