Manufactured in 1892, the first year of production. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address ahead of the rear sight and "44 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1892/-WINCHESTER-/PAT. OCT 14, 1884." and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. German silver blade front and adjustable buck horn rear sights, blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate, and mounted with a nicely figured smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a steel end cap and crescent buttplate.

Condition: Excellent. The barrel and magazine retain 97% plus original blue finish with areas fading to a smooth plum patina. The receiver retains 95% bright original high blue finish with some thinning and edge wear. The hammer and lever retain 80% original bright case colors with normal cycling wear on the right side of the hammer and some fading to a smooth dove gray on the lever. The buttplate retains 50% original case colors with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The highly figured wood is excellent with a few scattered minor pressure dents and a sliver of wood absent rear of lower tang. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
