Excellent First Year Production Second Generation Colt Buntline Special Single Action Army Revolver with Original Black Box

Manufactured in 1957, the first year of production for the Buntline Special revolver. Colt manufactured only approximately 3,900 of these Buntline Specials from 1957 to 1975. Standard one line address on top of the barrel and "COLT BUNTLINE SPECIAL .45" on the left side. The bottom of the barrel is marked with the stock number "BB459" just ahead of the cylinder pin. Two line, three patent date marking on the left side of the frame followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and on the left side of the grip straps under the grips. The matching assembly number "976" is marked on the right side rear of the frame and on the loading gate. Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, casehardened frame, blue on the remaining parts and fitted with smooth two-piece walnut grips numbered to the gun. Complete with the original black hinged lid box with matching serial number and stock number on the bottom. In the box is the manual, Colt warranty card, "Handling the Handgun" brochure and cleaning brush. This Buntline is consecutively numbered to the next lot. Consecutively serialized Colt Buntline revolvers are very rare.

Excellent. The revolver retains 99% original blue finish with some light muzzle wear. The frame retains 99% plus original case colors. The grips are also excellent with a few light pressure dents on the left panel. The markings are sharp. The action is excellent. The box is good with the corners on the lid separated and a 2 inch section of the front flap absent. One corner is separated on the box and overall there is some corner and edge wear.
