Also known as the Model number 2, this later production type I deringer was manufactured circa 1868. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the two line address, "E REMINGTON & SONS ILION, N.Y. / ELLIOTS PATENT DEC. 12TH 1865" and the number 44 is marked on the bottom of the barrel and on the frame under the left grip panel. The sides of the frame, back strap, a wedge in the center of the lower barrel and breech end of the upper barrels are engraved with a floral scroll design with a punch dot background. The center barrel rib and forward portion of the upper barrel has a simple line and dot design. The barrels are nickel, hammer, ejector, trigger and trigger screw are niter blue and the frame is silver plated. Fitted with smooth pearl grips.

Condition: Excellent. The barrels retain 98% original nickel finish with some minor flaking along the right side center rib, some scratches and minor pitting under the finish, and some scattered minor scratches. The frame retains 95% original nickel plating with some minor flaking on the bottom of the frame and front strap, and wear on the toe of the front strap. 70% original bright niter blue remains on the same components. The grips are excellent with a few minor chips and light scuffs. The action is excellent. The markings and engraving are sharp.
