The included factory letter confirms the barrel length, finish and checkered walnut grips. The revolver was shipped on October 27, 1952 and delivered to FBI Agent Robert Clark of Springfield, Massachusetts. This early production revolver has standard S&W markings, casehardened hammer and trigger and grips featuring S&W medallions with the right panel numbered to the gun. Early five-screw frame with flat latch, small size trigger guard. The original factory two piece red box is numbered to the gun, has the correct end label, onion skin wrapping with cleaning rod, brush and boar cleaning brush.

Excellent. The revolver retains 97% original blue finish showing only very mild holster wear at the muzzle and leading edge of the cylinder. The hammer and trigger retain most of the vivid and bright original case colors. The grips are very fine with a minor chip is missing from the left panel near the front strap and some minor pressure dents on the bottom. The checkering is crisp. Mechanically excellent. Box is excellent.
