Manufactured in 1877. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address, the left side has the etched panel "COLT D.A. 38", the left side of the frame is marked with the three line, three patent date marking and the left rear of the trigger guard is marked "38 CAL". The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. All nickel finish with niter blue screw heads, trigger and hammer, with polished sides and fitted with scarce first pattern checkered hard rubber one-piece grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, nickel finish with grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 12 to Schoverling, Daly & Gales, N.Y., N.Y. on November 20, 1877.

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 98% original nickel finish. With some scattered light scratches and handling marks. The small components retain almost all of the original bright niter blue finish with most of the loss being on the cylinder pin. The grips are also excellent with sharp checkering. Mechanically fine.
